Episode Summary
In this episode of Sunday School for Teachers, I reflect on the disciples gathering in the upper room after Jesus had risen and ascended into heaven. They found themselves in an uncertain in-between season, knowing that something was ahead but not fully understanding what would happen next. Instead of scattering or isolating themselves, they remained together, prayed together, and waited together.
I unpack what happened when the Holy Spirit came during Pentecost and transformed the disciples’ fear and uncertainty into courage, direction, and purpose. The upper room became more than a place of waiting. It became a place of preparation, unity, and transformation as God equipped the disciples for the work ahead.
This story connects deeply to education because teachers regularly experience uncertain seasons. New students, changing expectations, difficult situations, and unanswered questions can leave educators feeling overwhelmed or isolated. The upper room reminds us that we were never meant to carry every burden alone and that strength can be found through prayer, teamwork, encouragement, and community.
At the end of the day, I believe seasons of waiting are not always wasted seasons. Sometimes God is preparing us for what comes next, even when we cannot yet see it. When life and teaching feel uncertain, we can stay connected, support one another, trust that God is still working, and walk forward together with hope.
