Episode Summary
In this episode, I look back across 10 weeks of weekday conversations about artificial intelligence, assessment, technology, relationships, student voice, identity, policy, learning, and humanity. Although those topics may initially appear separate, they were all connected by one central question: How do we navigate changing technology without losing the things that matter most?
I explore how humanity became the through line running across the entire series. Students still need relationships, encouragement, belonging, guidance, and support. Technology and systems may evolve quickly, but human needs change much more slowly. Those needs shaped every conversation and continually brought the series back to people.
This episode also reflects on the continuing importance of deep learning, teacher identity, student voice, balance, and thoughtful adaptation. Education cannot become only about producing answers efficiently. Thinking, reflection, struggle, understanding, mentorship, trust, and human connection still matter, and many of those things cannot simply be automated or scaled.
Ultimately, AI was the doorway into a much larger conversation. Humanity became the destination. The goal was never to resist every change, but to protect what deserves protecting while schools, students, teachers, and technology continue evolving. The through line across these 10 weeks was the intentional protection of humanity in a changing world.
